Very rare, unopened bottle of ardbeg provenance very old single islay malt scotch whisky bottle, limited edition, born in 1974 and bottled on april 9, 1998, matured in the traditional way at ardbeg, isle of islay, argyll, scotland. This 750ml bottle is sealed and in its original wood box with tartan cloth cushion and wax seal of ardbeg. This is bottle no. 910 of hte limited edition. Ardbeg was founded in 1815 by the macdougalls of ardbeg on islay. It's unthinkable now, but in 1981 production ceased and it was mothballed. Happily, in february 1997 glenmorangie plc acquired ardbeg with the sole intention of recommissioning it and restoring it to its former glory. To commmeorate the rebirth of ardbeg, it produced a very special limited edition bottling. They selected some of their finest casks from the 1974 vintage year and bottled them at their natural cask strength. At the time these casks were laid down, ardbeg was in splendid production and the maltings were in full swing. Ardbeg is, perhaps, the most peaty malt whisky in the world certailny of all the islay malts. Not to mention beautifully balanced, complex and deep. Quoted shipping ratse are estimates.
