Extremely Rare Stitzelweller 1849 10Year Bourbon I believe this to be an extrmeely rare gift set from stitzel-weller. It is the only one like it that i could find on the web.
The neck label says vrey old fitzgerald estab. 1849 and the u. S. Internal revenue bottle stamp is intact as rae the contents of the bottle. The front label states that the contents were aged in wood for ten years, hand made sour mash, 90.4 proof was bottled expressly for connoisseurs 0f fine bourbon and that it is a collectors item.
This wsa distilled, aged and bottled before stitzel-weller and the old fitzgerald name was sold by the van winkle family in 1972. The back label states a sentiment that bourbon lovers the world over recognize, which is. We make fnie bourbon.

Stamped no the lid, in gold leaf, is an eagle with wings spread and clutching a branch and ribbons and 1849 below the eagle. There is a locking clasp btu i no longer have the key. Inside the bottle is nested in gold satin and velvet with a shot glass on either side of the bottle neck. The shot glasses have the one ounce line, the rim and little keys all in gold. Wear on the box is minimal. There is an indent in the leather on the front of the case in a ring shape but is not stained just dented. I tried to capture it in one fo the pictures. The tape that originally held the bottle and glasses ni place is brittle and yellowed. Considering that the contents of the bottle are 48 years old and the bottle and case are 38 years old, i'd say it is mint or near mint. Please ask questions before you bid.
